City Bell brings together several distinct cultural themes: Teatro de Cámara has three rooms used for different purposes and an outdoor amphitheater whose use depends on the weather. Museo del Arma de Comunicaciones 601 explores military communications from 1830 to the present day. A city walking tour also takes you through several emblematic places in the town. You can decide whether you are more interested in performance spaces, military communications, or local history.

Theater and the History of Communications

Teatro de Cámara de City Bell is a complex with the “Sala Principal,” the “Sala de Exposiciones,” and the “Sala del Parque.” The latter is acoustically designed for small concerts, conferences, book presentations, as well as business meetings or training sessions. Its uses therefore range from cultural events to professional activities.

Outside, there is a small amphitheater with seating for 50 people. During suitable months and in favorable weather, it is intended for open-air concerts and children’s performances. If you are particularly interested in these events, take the stated seasonal and weather conditions into account when planning your visit.

Museo del Arma de Comunicaciones 601 is located at the intersection of Avenida Camino Centenario and Güemes in City Bell, Buenos Aires. The development of military communications from 1830 to the present day is presented in the rooms “Líneas permanentes,” “Telegrafía,” “Radio,” “Telefonía,” and “Islas Malvinas.” Military communications are the focus here, while Teatro de Cámara offers a range of performance and gathering spaces.

Guided Walking Tour of City Bell

The Municipality of La Plata offers a guided walking tour in City Bell that passes through several emblematic places in the town. It begins at Plaza Belgrano, at the intersection of Cantilo and 14b. Plaza San MartĂn and the railway station are also stops along the way. The named starting point provides a specific landmark, and the other stops include both a square and the railway station.

Local History and Architecture

Club Atlético City Bell was founded in November 1926. A few years later, it moved into a house built by “Sociedad Anónima City Bell” in 1920, which was originally intended to be a “Casa de Té.” The house therefore predates the club’s founding. The historic town center is also connected to La Plata: under a municipal ordinance, it was to expand the city’s architectural and cultural heritage.

La Plata as a Broader Travel Destination

Within the broader destination of La Plata, the founding plan offers its own perspective on urban planning: it links 20 squares of different designs with eleven avenues that run perpendicular to one another. The observation point at Catedral de La Plata offers another view of the city. It is about 70 meters high and provides a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.

Catedral de La Plata is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; admission is free. Check the opening hours again before your trip.

Other cultural attractions in the broader destination of La Plata focus on different themes: Museo y Archivo Dardo Rocha preserves Dardo Rocha’s collection and the historic house, and plans educational activities for school students. Museo del Ladrillo explores the social, cultural, and technological heritage of brickmaking and its significance to the beginnings of La Plata. A city tour of Meridiano V explores the neighborhood’s railway history and heritage, as well as its development into a cultural district; it begins at the provincial railway station at the intersection of 17 and 71.

The city walking tour through Paseo del Bosque is also part of the broader destination of La Plata. It includes the lake, its pier, and the boats; the planetarium is also part of the route.
