La Luisa can be explored through two defining threads: the railway, which the settlement grew around, and the history of Haras El ParaĂso stud farm. A railway station inaugurated in 1882 and the founding of the stud farm in 1949 provide clear historical reference points for the town. For choosing accommodation, the common thread is a stay in La Luisa shaped above all by culture and history.

Railway Station and Commercial History

La Luisa came into being in connection with a railway station inaugurated in 1882. The station was initially called “Saavedra,” was renamed “Arroyo de Luna” in 1919, and has been called “La Luisa” since 1920. La Luisa preserves its railway station. This sequence links the settlement’s origins with the later history of its name and makes two important dates easy to trace.

Commerce is also part of the town’s history: the A. García y Cia branch in La Luisa opened near the railway station in 1900. The business operated for around 120 years before later closing. Its location near the station connects two facets of the town’s history, while the business’s eventual closure marks the end of this long chapter.

Haras El ParaĂso Stud Farm

In 1949, Ernesto Pueyrredón founded Haras El Paraíso stud farm in La Luisa, in the Partido de Capitán Sarmiento. Its founding marks a strand of the town’s history distinct from its railway heritage. In 1964, Haras El Paraíso ranked first in the national statistics for stud farms. This historic leading position also anchors the stud farm in the local tradition of thoroughbred breeding. Horse-related activity continues to be part of the picture at the Haras. For travelers interested in stud farms and horse breeding, this history provides a concrete backdrop to La Luisa.

A Club in the Town’s History

When Alfredo Ham first subdivided land in 1931, one hectare was set aside as a donation for Club Unión Labradores. This event links the club’s history with the land subdivision of the time and adds another historical perspective on La Luisa.
